Digital Marketing Manager

Creative storyteller with range: a communications Swiss Army knife. Journalist at heart. Charter school proof point.

Where It All Started

A charter school alumna, Emily knows first-hand the impact a quality education can have. And she knows the hard work that goes into running a successful charter school, having watched her mother organize a group of parents and educators to build a public, arts education-focused middle school from scratch.

In the Early Days

After studying journalism and editing her college newspaper, Emily translated her love of storytelling into a career in communications at leading nonprofit organizations. At Planned Parenthood Association of Utah, Emily ran a one-woman comms shop crafting copy and creative for health care services by day, leading media training workshops for activists by night, and drinking a lot of coffee in between.

What She Brings to the Table

After moving to Los Angeles in 2016, Emily joined the media relations team at Sundance Institute. Beyond managing red carpets at the Sundance Film Festival, Emily told the story of the Institute’s work to champion artists through placements in top-tier media outlets. At Sundance, she also collaborated on internal communications and launched the Press Inclusion Initiative, providing logistical support to underrepresented film critics attending the Festival. Her dynamic range of experience led her to be called a “jack of all trades,” although she prefers “Swiss Army knife” intentionally focused on PR, but able to pinch hit on anything from paid social to event planning.

What Gets Her Up in the Morning

From more than a decade of work with organizations that improve the lives of women and children and her formal training as a journalist, Emily is primed to deploy her “can do” approach to help changemakers tell their story and drive meaningful impact.

In Her Spare Time

Growing up in Utah gave Emily a love for the outdoors, whether she’s hiking, skiing or camping. Curious by nature, Emily loves to travel and is a voracious reader.

Emily earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications – Journalism Emphasis from the University of Utah.
