At the age of eight, Jane moved to the U.S. with very little knowledge of the English language. Quickly she learned and adapted to being the middle-communicator between her parents and school educators. By properly framing her teacher’s messages and instructions, it gave her parents the ability to easily understand important key points. It was the early stages of strategic communications. She just didn’t know it at the time.
In the start of her college career, Jane took pride in being a mentor for TRiO – a program to provide support for low-income, first-generation college students. Working with like-minded students hungry for knowledge, Jane saw firsthand the true value of education. Serving as her community college’s Associated Student Body-Director of Public Relations, she was the go-to-girl for information on campus student life, current campus events and educational resources.
As a recent college grad, she sees her work with Larson Communications as part of her “early days” in public relations. Jane says, “I’m just getting started.”
Jane, being her family’s first-generation college graduate, knows the importance of education. Her personal experiences have exposed her to the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to the adversity students face in their early educational years. With the combination of her personal background, writing practices and experience in all things social media, she brings a new way to reach important audiences. She believes in utilizing social media to effectively create an online presence and share information. Her goal is to expand social media practices for both Larson Communications and the organizations we represent.
Jane has the desire to help those who may not necessarily have the ability to help themselves. She lives for helping others—family, friends and strangers alike. Priding herself in her positive attitude, her commitment to service strongly aligns with Larson Communications’ culture and values. Through her own experiences, Jane has become passionate about ensuring that students have opportunities in education so that their vision for success is never out of reach.
Life is best lived following passions, big or small. Jane’s passion for places has led her to many corners of the world—sometimes exploring solo. In her spare time, she actively finds ways to create adventures whether it’s in her own backyard, nearby or a distant destination. When she’s not researching bucket list destinations, reading a book or creating content for her travel blog, she’s probably on a food adventure or memorizing popular song lyrics from start to finish.
Jane received her Bachelor’s Degree from San Jose State University – majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Public Relations.
